? The First Sudanese AFL Player - NYLD Melbourne 2025
Born in Sudan, Majak and his family moved to Australia as refugees. Majak played over 50 games for the Kangaroos, and in 2016 won the AFL Mark of the Year. When he finished at the Kangaroos Majak spent 2 years at the Melbourne Demons to help add depth and experience to their team. He has published his autobiography, which tells his powerful story of triumph and despair, and highlights the importance of mental health. Majak was one of this year’s inspiring speakers at Melbourne NYLD 2025!

Emma McKeon has 11 Olympic Games Medals and 20 Commonwealth Games Medals to her name. This makes Emma not only the greatest Australian swimmer of all time, but the most decorated Olympian, and one of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen. At the Tokyo Olympic she became the most successful Australian athlete at a single Olympics, and the only female in the world, across all sports, to win seven medals at one Olympics. Emma McKeon was one of this year’s inspiring NYLD Melbourne 2025 speakers!

BIG GOALS - Thomas Duncan Watt - NYLD Melbourne 2025
Thomas Duncan-Watt is a multi-award-winning screenwriter and author. He works behind the scenes on various TV shows, from Emmy award winning cartoon series to Home & Away.
Catherine Laga’aia is about to be one of the world’s most recognised faces. She is starring as Moana in a live-action version of the Disney movie. Catherine joins Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson who plays Maui. Filming has taken place in Hawaii and will hit movie screens next year.
